WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Dickins began letting flats during the Edinburgh Festival in 1998, when our Managing Director, Louise Dickins, had the vision of matching festival visitors to beautiful Edinburgh properties, and set about contacting the major venues.

Back then few companies had a website and – without the aid of digital photos – Louise would write detailed descriptions of apartments for each enquiry with the same painstaking care she put into selecting the best properties to suit her client’s needs. And she was a great problem solver so guests soon got to know they could trust her.

By 2006, the world – and Edinburgh – were changing and so we did too. Now as well as doing our Festival lets, we managed special self catering homes all year round. The world was becoming a smaller place. Edinburgh Airport expanded causing visitors to come from all corners of the globe. People began to seek out homes – understanding that staying in a home was the best way to experience a city. Providing guests with a quality Edinburgh home and all the information they need to make the most of their stay in this spectacular city, has built Dickins’ reputation and kept the growing numbers of guests returning again and again.
