About This Home

Artists Loft is a special and surprising home. It has a Narnia feeling as you enter off the main shop lined street in much loved Stockbridge and when you walk into Artists Loft, you'll feel like you're in New York, hence the Loft in its name. We've never seen another home like this before and we've seen many homes over the years!

Architect designed, this was an artist's studio once upon a time and with all that glass and light, it is easy to see why. The living space has a 6m high wall of glass, flooding the space with light and an amazing sense of space. This 92 sq m space feels cool and is an exciting place to stay. There's great energy here.

The living space has a cosy and comfy sofa area with a smart TV. There's a dining table to seat 4 and a fabulous kitchen with a stainless steel worktop and lots of storage. The owner of this home is a chef. If you enjoy cooking, you'll find some of Edinburgh's best food shops a few metres away. There's a door to the balcony which has outdoor furniture. Please see the safety notice in our Home Truths about the balcony. &

On this level, you'll find the lovely master bedroom with a kingsize bed and plenty of storage and a cosy single bedroom next door. There's also the bathroom which has a good shower over a bath.

Cool stairs lead to the mezzanine level and you'll find a desk here. It's a great place to work with good wifi speed. Also on this upper level, there's the second kingsize bedroom.

Artists Loft is dog friendly. Please see our Home Truths section for details.

This is a special and unique home. Anyone who stays in Artists Loft will love it.

The Neighbourhood

Stockbridge is one of Edinburgh's best loved neighbourhoods and Artist's Loft is in the heart of it. You're spoilt for choice if you love cooking. Armstrong the fishmonger and Bowers the butcher are excellent plus Mellis Cheese, Twelve Triangles for bread and the brilliant Sunday Market. We love the chicken liver pate at Herbie's Deli too. There are so many great local eateries and restaurants including Scran and Scallie. There are some great bars and lovely independent boutiques too.

Inverleith Park is just around the corner, which is perfect if you're bringing a dog with you. The Royal Botanic Gardens are closeby too. Grange Cricket Club and Accies Rugby pitches are just by this home. You walk into town easily from here and there are buses available locally too.

Home Truths

Artists Loft is available for corporate lets only with a minimum period of 28 nights.

Children under 12 should not use the balcony unsupervised. It was be locked. It is safe, but it is possible to walk beyond the balcony store for this home, hence the need for supervision of children. Dogs are not allowed on the balcony.

This is a dog friendly home. Dogs are welcome with owners who are going to be taking their dogs with them when they go out but we're afraid we can't accept dogs who are going to be regularly left at home whilst the owners, for example go to work, as our experience is that damage is caused in this scenario. An additional £30/week charge is made for a dog and a larger damage deposit will be taken to cover any breakages/damages or extra cleaning which is required.

24 hour cool-off period: Providing you book more than fourteen days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking within 24 hours of making it and we will refund 100% of any charges.

Cancelling after the booking is confirmed: Once a confirmation of booking has been issued to you via email by Dickins, you are responsible for the total price detailed. If you need to cancel, Dickins will try to relet the period for you and if they are successful, you will be reimbursed with the value of the relet less a £75 + VAT charge. If they are not able to relet the period, you will be responsible for the full rental cost. It may be a good idea to make sure you have travel insurance which covers cancellation.

Stockbridge

Your New Neighbourhood

Stockbridge is one of Edinburgh’s most popular and charming local areas. In the East it runs from St Stephen Street to Dean Park Mews in the West and from Stockbridge Colonies in the North to India Place in the South.

The area is one of Edinburgh’s greenest. The Water of Leith flows through Stockbridge, in fact the area is named after the bridge which crosses it and there are very pretty walks along it. It’s so quiet and rural, that it is hard to believe you are in the middle of the city. St Bernard’s Well is a little Greek style temple overlooking the water. The world class Royal Botanic Gardens and Inverleith Park are a few minutes walk away and are both wonderful for a wander. Inverleith Park has an excellent play park for children and The Botanics is a complete joy at any time of year. If you like running, this area is perfection. The first international rugby match between Scotland and England was played in the area on 27th March 1871. The Stockbridge Duck Race takes place here every year, for charity, when 1000 plastic ducks are released off the bridge to race down The Water of Leith.
