Frederick Street lies moments from George Street and Princes Street in the Georgian New Town,& a UNESCO World Heritage site composed of one of the most complete landscapes of Georgian architecture in the country. As a city centre location, it cannot be beaten.

A short walk among the restaurants and cafes take you to the upmarket boutiques and bars of George Street and a bit further on to Princes Street and their glorious gardens, all kindly watched over by Edinburgh Castle.& You really are in the heart of the city.

The James Craig and William Playfair Apartments are opposite each other in the same building and have been meticulously created to achieve a calm and peaceful environment to escape to from the buzz of the city.& The James Craig Apartment looks out over Frederick Street and green space and rooftops to the East.& The apartment is spacious and bright and has the most fabulously comfortable sofa and bed. It has been carefully considered planned to make the most of the space with an eye on every detail.

Opening the door from the slate flagged main hallway, you enter the open plan living space with double windows, high ceilings and great art. There's a magnificent sofa (perfect for an afternoon nap!) and beautifully appointed and equipped kitchen with high spec appliances and a dining table to seat 4 comfortably. There's also an armchair which reclines and is as comfortable as can be! The modern art adorning the walls and the floors of solid oak provide a pleasing contrast to the muted tones used in the decoration.

There is also a clever study desk in the living space which easily converts to a double bed should you need the extra space temporarily. &

Moving back through to the entrance hall, you will find the generous bedroom with its vast and endlessly comfortable super king size bed dressed in crisp white linens.& An Anta throw and cushions add a tasteful touch of Scotland here and the double windows once again look out over Frederick Street.& The shower room with its mosaic tiled floor is next door and it too is a lovely place to spend time and wash the cares away.

This self catering apartment is available for holiday lets, short term and corporate lets, city and weekend breaks and as Edinburgh Festival accommodation.

Please note, during the Edinburgh Festival a whole month booking is preferred in this apartment.

Central New Town

Your New Neighbourhood

The Central New Town spans from Scotland Street in the East to Randolph Crescent in the West and from Princes Street in the South to Brandon Terrace in the North. It encompasses most of Edinburgh’s beautiful and enviable Georgian New Town.

In 1766 James Craig, aged 27, entered a competition to design a New Town to ease overcrowding in the Old Town. There were six entries and he won. His plan was for St Andrew Square and Charlotte Square, Princes Street, George Street and Queen Street and was presented to King George III in 1767. Edinburgh’s New Town is now world famous and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. The Georgian New Town is known for its graceful sweeping crescents, wide streets and private central gardens. The beautiful stone buildings have large astragal windows that we love to peep in on a winters evening to see what lies inside. The architectural details and high ceilings in Edinburgh’s New Town put Bath to shame. The architectural highlights are Charlotte Square, Moray Place and Heriot Row.
