What’s On In Edinburgh – August 2019
It’s finally August in Edinburgh, which means it’s time for the biggest art festival in the world! There are thousands of shows, exhibitions and performances to choose from and the city is never as alive as it is during the month of August.
August 2019
To say there’s a lot to do in Edinburgh during August is an understatement. It can be hard to know where to start and how to whittle it down, so we’ve written a guide to some of the highlights. If you’re looking for an overview of what’s happening, you’re in the right place!
As well as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, highlights this year include the return of Edinburgh Foodies Festival and the ever-growing Edinburgh International Book Festival. Also back this year is the Virgin Money Fringe street events – bringing the streets of the city alive with free entertainment. You can catch some incredible acts from a range of world-class street performers as well as preview hundreds of Fringe shows.
If you’re looking for more free shows and activities to do this month, the Free Fringe is the place to head. And as if all that wasn’t enough, the fantastic Edinburgh Military Tattoo is also back. Tickets are mostly sold out but there are often last-minute deals available, so keep an eye out!
Luna Cinema is back at the end of the month, but this time for the grownups! Open-air film screenings will take place in the Royal Botanic Gardens from the 30th August – 1st September.
Be sure to check our blog for more upcoming festival posts, including our top picks for what to do with children during the Fringe and a guide to our favourite festival eats.
