What’s On In Edinburgh – March 2019
Happy March! It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into the third month of the year but we’re so excited for everything to come – especially spring! We’ve already seen the snowdrops and crocuses starting to come up in Edinburgh – a happy reminder that longer, warmer days are on the way. However, should those wintery days still make the occasional visit this March, take a look at our 6 Warm Places for Cold Days blog post, with some great ideas on where to go to keep warm.
March is the month of Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating all of the inspiring women in our lives. There are plenty of women-centered events happening in Edinburgh this month, from storytelling to tribute concerts. For expectant mothers, the Bonnie Bairn Fair is taking place on the 10th, to help support you through the different stages of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
Of course, March also brings with it St Patrick’s Day and there are plenty of fun activities to help you celebrate. Edinburgh’s Festival of Ireland will be taking place from the 15th – 23rd as well as other storytelling and musical events, comedy nights and more.
For those who are fond of knitting, the Edinburgh Yarn Festival will bring together vendors, crafters and friends for a weekend of yarn inspired activities from the 21st – 23rd. The BP Portrait Award exhibition finishes on the 10th in the Portrait Gallery, so it’s your last chance to catch this captivating showcase – and it’s well worth the visit.

Are you planning a visit to Edinburgh this spring?
We have a home away from home waiting for you!
12 St Mary’s Street
This beautifully appointed home in the heart of the Old Town is perfect for a romantic getaway. This is a luxury space and there’s something wonderfully grown up about it. In the sitting room, there are comfy sofas and a chaise longue next to shelves crammed with books. Pair that with the music system and you have the perfect place to kick back and relax in. The kitchen feels surprisingly enormous and is fully equipped if you’d like to cook at home.
The location is fantastic; St Mary’s Street is charming and has some great boutiques and restaurants. The Royal Mile and so many of Edinburgh’s best tourist attractions are right on your doorstep, too. This is the ideal self-catering home from home.
