What’s On In Edinburgh – January 2019
There’s no need to suffer from the January blues when there is so much to look forward to in Edinburgh this month! January is usually the city’s coldest month, so it’s the perfect time to curl up with a dram of whisky and a good book, or perhaps some poetry written by Scotland’s most famous son. It’s the month of Robert Burns and a time to celebrate all things Scottish. With a host of cultural events taking place in the city this month – from comedy nights to ceilidhs – there’s plenty to enjoy!
Throughout January Message from the Skies will illuminate buildings around Edinburgh with the words of six internationally celebrated writers. An exciting robot exhibition is opening in the National Museum on the 18th and Camera Obscura will be hosting a special five-day event for the littlest space explorers; the Teeny Tiny Toddler Fest.
Rounding off the month will be Burns & Beyond, a new festival celebrating Burns and the best of Scotland’s cultural landscape. Festival events will take place in venues across Edinburgh city centre, including comedy nights, theatre, heritage tours, and other cultural events. The much-anticipated exhibition Museum of the Moon has been touring the world since 2016 and will be on display in St Giles’ Cathedral from the 21-26 January.
