Where to find Edinburgh’s Best Burgers!
Happy National Burger Day! In celebration, we’ve decided to share a few of our favourite places in Edinburgh to enjoy a burger! To ensure no one misses out, we’ve also included vegetarian, gluten-free options, as well as dog-friendly establishments. Enjoy!

1. Holyrood 9A
- Where: 9a Holyrood Road
- Looking for an Edinburgh holiday let? Holyrood Road is an ideal location to stay in and enjoy our wonderful cultural capital city.
Holyrood 9A is a popular spot amongst locals and visitors for it cosy, friendly atmosphere as well as it’s hearty meals. The pub is known for its gourmet burgers and selection of Scottish beers! It’s the perfect place to stop and enjoy lunch or dinner after spending the day exploring Edinburgh’s Old Town. If you’re with your four-legged companion, don’t worry, Holyrood 9A is dog-friendly too!
2. Butta Burger
- Where: 137 George Street
- Our South Charlotte Street home has a fabulous location which is less than a minute from Princes Street, overlooking the beautiful Charlotte Square.
New to the Edinburgh restaurant scene, Butta Burger first opened in lockdown as a takeaway, and you can now visit their popular spot on George Street. A beautiful spot to dine al fresco when the Scottish weather abides. Offering a selection of decadent beef and chicken burgers, sides and fries, and they have recently launched a brunch menu too. The buttermilk fried chicken burgers, with their specially seasoned sauces has the town talking and they are quickly becoming considered one of Edinburgh’s Best Burgers.
3. The Cambridge Bar
- Where: 20 Young Street
- Edinburgh’s Central New Town is both elegant central, making it a gorgeous location to stay when visiting Edinburgh! We think you’ll love our Frederick Street home.
You’ll find The Cambridge Bar tucked away on Young Street. Despite being only a short walk from Princes Street, the lane is often extremely quiet, which makes The Cambridge Bar feel very much like a hidden gem. The independent pub is mainly known for three things: their beers, their gourmet burgers, and showing live sports. Their burger menu offers something for everyone, using 100% Scottish beef, buffalo, and chicken plus locally-sourced ingredients. They also offer kid-sized burgers if you’re in with the family. Dogs are also welcome!
4. Roseleaf
- Where: 23-24 Sandport Place
- Our Eildon Street home is another central and comfortable Edinburgh holiday home!
You might have to venture slightly out the city centre to visit Roseleaf, but it’s definitely worth a visit! The cosy, family-run bar is situated in Leith and proudly serve up delicious, quality food. From the outside, the pub looks fairly traditional but once you step inside you’ll be surprised by its quirky decor! It’s full of pre-loved furniture, random treasures, and their menus are made from old National Geographic magazines! With regards to their burgers, all are homemade and use great quality ingredients. If you do visit, keep an eye out for their Pot-Tails aka a cocktail in a teapot!
5. Burgers & Beers Grillhouse
- Where: 192a High Street
- If you’re looking for an Edinburgh short term let in Edinburgh’s Old Town, our Canongate apartment might be perfect for you!
Located on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile, Burgers & Beers specialises in, as their name suggests, delicious burgers and beers! They believe in only using fresh, locally-sourced, award-winning produce. BUFFALO FARM supply them with the finest of fillet steaks and 100% Aberdeen Angus beef mince for their burgers. Then, 45-60 hours every single week are spent handcrafting our 8oz burgers on site! The best part is they also offer gluten-free burgers and beers (pictured below)!
6. Bread Meats Bread
- Where: 92 Lothian Road
- Fountainbridge is just a short walk from Lothian Road and is a lively area to stay in, we think you’ll love our Grove Street home.
An award winning burger restaurant, we had to include Bread Meats Bread! Bread Meats Bread is a family-owned business who started in Glasgow and have now branched out to Edinburgh. They believe in using the best local ingredients, generous portions, as well as having a no frills/no gimmicks approach to food! They are widely considered to serve up some of Edinburgh’s Best Burgers.
7. Holy Cow

Lastly, here’s one for all the vegans and vegetarians out there! Holy Cow is a 100% Vegan Cafe serving burgers, open sandwiches, soups, salads, smoothies, coffees and cakes in a bright and airy basement in historic central Edinburgh. We’re sure even if you’re not vegan you’ll love what they have to offer!

Grove Street is a delightful, light and airy one bedroom home in Fountainbridge. Just around the corner from some great cafes and the best plant shop in Edinburgh, Grow Urban! This home is welcoming and cosy, but with generously sized rooms and a king size bed. Dogs are welcome in this home too.
